Welcome to the premier gymnastics facility in Western Colorado. If you are new to Legacy Academy, your child may likely begin on our Recreational Gymnastics Program. Recreational gymnastics is for beginners through advanced, ages 18 months and older. Please call us and we will recommend the appropriate class.
Our qualified, caring instructors are certified in our specialized training program providing your child the best gymnastics training in Western Colorado.
The Stars Developmental Team and Competitive Team are by invitation only. As your child progresses she may choose whether or not to compete. We nurture the whole athlete and your child can continue to perfect their skills on either the Stars Developmental Team or Competitive Team.
Our Mission
Making kids fit for the future. It is our belief that gymnastics helps to develop physical qualities such as flexibility, strength, poise, agility and coordination, that it nurtures confidence, self-discipline, goal setting, and dedication. Thus, our primary objective is to develop the whole person with care by giving attention to each child regardless of their natural physical ability or competitive motivation. Success in gymnastics competition is an important by-product and goal.
Legacy Gymnastics Academy offers gymnastics classes for ages 18 months to 18 years old in Grand Junction, Colorado.

As a USA Gymnastics Member Club, we follow a safe progressive program that requires students to perfect established skills at each level before advancing to the next level. Our gym is equipped with all Olympic apparatus as well as in-ground trampolines and a 40-foot tumble tramp. We sport solid and loose foam training pits as well as a variety of skills cushions and safety mats.
Our staff is certified through our specialized training program. Program directors and senior staff members are USAG Professional Members, USAG Safety Certified, Safe Sport certified, and trained in concussion awareness.
Co-founder Harlan Bensley was the second person inducted into the Colorado Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
Ages 18 months to 5 years old can benefit from gymnastics in our Tot class or our Parent-Tot class.
Tots gain self confidence while learning to listen and follow directions as well as body awareness in movement, coordination, balance, strength and fitness. Tots will learn gymnastics in a fun and safe environment on preschool-sized equipment. They will learn basic gymnastic skills incorporating fun themes each month.
Level 1-4 (age 5 & older) Students will learn fundamental gymnastics skills on Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor and Trampoline. The Level 1-4 curriculum is based on the skills provided by USA Gymnastics. As a gymnast is able to master skills, they will progress to the next level. They will have the opportunity to participate in Fun Meets in the Winter and Spring to show what they have learned. Stars, USAG and Xcel Teams by invitation only (special requirements apply).
Stars Teams include Tiny Stars, Future Stars, Rising Stars and Shining Stars. Gymnasts are selected out of the Tots and Level 1-4 program considering strength, flexibility, skill and attitude. Stars classes learn USAG skill progressions on vault, bars beam and floor as well as strength and flexibility in preparation for competitive gymnastics.
USAG and Xcel Teams – USA Gymnastics is the organization that governs the sport of gymnastics and selects the Olympic and National Team. Our program is based on the USAG Level 1-10 skills. Gymnasts start in local competitions and build their way up to state, regional, and national competitions. Gymnasts are invited to team considering strength, flexibility, attitude and skill.
Several of our athletes have received college scholarships. Many others have gone on to coaching gymnastics to pay their way through college.
USA Ninja Challenge (age 5 & older) is a program based on the national television show American Ninja Warrior. The program is designed to meet the requirements of a full physical fitness program for today’s youth. The franchise provides specialized ninja training equipment such as warped wall, slack line, swinging rings and ropes, cargo nets, traverse walls, and they are continually making new equipment based on the TV show. Our staff and curriculum are certified by USA Ninja Challenge.
